Vacation Bible School 2010 at PGPC kicked off with a bang, as Chef Pierre took the stage Monday night, thrilling kids of all ages. Chef Pierre, played by Chuck Moss, along with Eric Adcock, the VBS teacher, presented the Sacred Chow Food Court, which was the theme for this year's VBS. They were joined by several costumed teenagers, as well, including Savannah Copeland, who played Big Cheese; Christine Adcock, who played Chinese Takeout; and Matthew Hancock, who played Big Grape.
Vacation Bible School boasted many great activities for the children this year including learning about the parable of Jesus, live music and sing-a-longs led by the all star cast, lots of great food, exciting take home crafts created by the children, and lots of audience participation!
After learning about the parable that Jesus taught of the four soils on Monday night, the children enjoyed "Dirt Cake", which was ground Oreos and cream, with a delicious whipped topping. On Tuesday night, they children learned the parable of the Publican and the Pharisee, and they learned how to be humble. For snack, they nibbled on their choice of "Humble Pie", which included pecan pie, cherry pie, apple pie, and even Moon Pies! They also made their own "Humble Pie" during craft time on Tuesday night, complete with the scripture reference of Psalm 145.
Every night was a huge hit. With Big Grape on keyboard, Chinese Takeout and Big Cheese leading worship, and Dylan Goss on drums, the team led the kids in several worship choruses, and had them participate in the singing. Chef Pierre kept the audience in stitches, and wowed them with his rendition of "I'm Not Ashamed" (French chef version). Eric Adcock enthralled the kids with wonderful stories and parables from the word of God, and held the children spellbound with artistic ability, as he drew large word puzzles for the audience to solve.
With great food, fun crafts, compelling stories, hilarious characters, and all the focus on Jesus Christ, this year's Vacation Bible School left
all the children wanting more. We hope all who attended were blessed, and the cast and crew would like to extend a VERY special thank you to Sis Elvida Abshire, without whom the 2010 Vacation Bible School would not have been possible. We hope to see all the young and the young at heart again next year!
